Gandhinagar - The Highlife

Our city, the Greencity Gandhinagar, is well-known for its highly acclaimed architecture and the planning of the city. The lush green streets, Akshardham, Infocity, Indroda park, etc. these are the things that define Gandhinagar, the place of opportunities. The luxuriant green surroundings and calmness that the city offers is almost impeccable. Spread over an area of 177 sq km, the capital of the state which is the only home to the Asiatic Lions, Gujarat, Gandhinagar has shown immense growth in variety of fields. The city has a population of around 2,00,000 with a literacy rate of 87.11% which is the highest in the state. And with 22 trees per person and 425 trees per hectare the capital is undoubtedly the greenest capital in the country. The city boasts of having the finest roads and a drive on these beautiful roads on a rainy day is definitely a moment for a lifetime. The pleasing and tranquil atmosphere of Gandhinagar would make one and all fall in love with it. “Having lived here for past 22 years, for me it’s almost impossible to settle anywhere else. The city has given me lot which I can never pay back. I owe a lot to this city,” says Dharmendra Rawal, a city based lawyer.

Places to Visit

Akshardham, the temple of God Swaminarayan, one of the best modern art works, built by pink stones with magnificent carvings and surrounded with lush green gardens and admirable fountains. The city is honored with the biggest IT hub in Gujarat – Infocity. The government of Gujarat has developed its knowledge corridor in Gandhinagar region. With a variety of housing plans coming up and the big guns of real estate showing their interest to invest, this city is expanding consistently. The outskirts of city have seen a tremendous growth in the last two years. Not to forget the upcoming project of the Government of Gujarat, Gujarat International Finance Tec-City better known as GIFT City will give a thrust to the financial dealings of the state as the GIFT city is targeted as the global financial and IT services hub. The Open-Air Theatre at GH-5, the DLF IT Park and the Metro Rail Services are soon going to festoon the city. Thus, Gandhinagar as a city has not just shown immense potential to develop but also has lived up to the expectations to justify its title of being the capital of the state of Gujarat.
